Panther project

AUT was a partner of the PANTHER project which was awarded under Erasmus Mundus Action II. The project managed scholarship programmes funded by the European Commission. It was a co-operation and mobility scheme in the area of higher education co-operation launched by the Europe Aid Cooperation Office and implemented by the Executive Agency Education, Audiovisual and Culture (EACEA). The project offered PhD, postdoc and staff scholarships for citizens of the European Union, Australia and New Zealand. The main objective of the project was to develop research collaborations between European Union, Australian and New Zealand universities with a focus on engineering and technology. The programme was open for European Union, Australian and New Zealand citizens only.

The 8 universities involved in this programme were:

  • Ecole Centrale de Nantes (France)

  • Auckland University of Technology (New Zealand)

The programme was focused on exchange in four research areas:

  • Aeronautics and astronautics
  • Power, renewable energy and new energy sources
  • Sensing technologies
  • Automation and control systems
